At the inaugural EDUcatering Awards Education catering specialist Caterlink has been recognised for its excellence in providing high quality freshly produced meals for pupils, students and staff at primary and secondary schools, colleges and Universities across the UK, with the award of Caterer of the Year 2010.

The Awards recognise outstanding provision of food service to educational establishments ranging from primary schools to universities across the state and independent sectors.

Jane Renton, EDUcatering editorial director, said: “The judges were impressed by Caterlink’s absolute commitment to ensuring the delivery of the highest quality meals in schools. In particular, the company’s success at its schools in assisting them to raise meal uptake, in some cases by dramatic proportions, was a factor that really made their performance stand out amongst the other providers. The company also demonstrated a commitment to working with the local communities whose schools and colleges it serves by offering training apprenticeships and sourcing its ingredients from local farmers and suppliers.”

Neil Fuller, Caterlink managing director, said: “Every day we serve more than 63,000 meals which play a pivotal role in the school day, providing exciting nutritionally balanced food which makes a real difference to everyone’s day at school. We are delighted that the hard work of all our team has been recognised with this award, but more over delighted that the role of good food in schools is being given the importance that it deserves.”

Caterlink constantly strives to provide the highest quality meals to the children and young adults it serves. Known for its passion for sourcing only the highest quality ingredients from the UK, and providing its chefs with the best seasonal produce, the company recently announced its move to use only free range eggs produced by chickens cared for in accordance with RSPCA’s Freedom Food standards. Additionally, the company works hard to develop its chef’s skills with training that is second to none and which make it an employer of choice within the catering industry.
