Barlow is the Catering Manager at St Joseph’s Hospice in Hackney, and on the 7th October 2012 he ran the Royal Parks Half Marathon for St Joseph’s Hospice and raised £900 for the Hospice.

This is an outstanding achievement which raised a lot of money for a fantastic cause. Barlow had not always had the intention to compete but stepped up to the mark.

"The Royal Parks Half Marathon is run every year through the London Parks. This was my first ever competitive race. I have been running for the past six months just to keep fit. I was told the hospice has a space in the half marathon with nobody to run. So, I put my hand up, not realizing at the time what I am getting myself into. I created a just giving page online, told my friends and family about the charity and the rest is history. I finished the marathon in 1hour 57. The guy who came first did it in 1 hour 12, so not bad for a first timer".

Very well done to Barlow and we hope this inspires others to follow suit by challenging themselves and achieving for a fantastic cause.
